Halo Reach on the Xbox 360 is Bungie’s swansong to the AI driven FPS that means so much to them and their players.
Halo: Reach prequels the other three Halo games (now some of the best cheap Xbox 360 games) and offers the grand culmination of Bungie’s 10 years experience at getting first person shooters right.
It has a darker story than previous Halo games as we live through the moments that forged the Halo legend. The game looks darker and more sombre as well, along with a little more polish than the previous games.
Like Halo ODST on 360 there is no Master Chief character to play. Instead you opt for one of four Special Forces. This moves away from the dual wielding offence of other Halo games and offers more choice as each unit type has a special ability – bursts of speed, rocket powered flight, shields and invisibility.
Along with a multiplayer game that sees the return of the Headhunter format, we are most excited about the campaign. Reach is another opportunity to experience Bungie’s believably intelligent enemies – unrivalled elsewhere. Their deft touch with the Artificial Intelligence makes the campaign tense and engaging whether rented alone or with three friends.
