With the help of powerful allies and a mysterious book, Nier encounters things that will confound even the mightiest of warriors.

Player will battle against evil creatures and unleash brutal combat moves along with devastating combo attacks. Unlock an arsenal of devastating weapons, each with its own characteristics to master. When his sword isn’t enough, Nier can call on a remarkable array of stylish and powerful spells to unleash crushing blows to enemies near and far. As players progress, upgraded spells will help to defeat ever more deadly enemies.

Combining a beautiful, immersive world with dynamic visual, Nier challenges you to tackle dark and mysterious enemies through action-packed swordplay and explosive magic spells. And with plot twists hiding around every corner, Nier’s story needs to be seen to be believed.

Reviews

Nier is a very good game, with a unique story and gameplay style it was a very different direction that Square took one of there games in and I think it did very well. Even though the game is a slow speed game

Nier is the final game released by the developers Cavia before the company is disbanded and absorbed by AQ Interactive. Nier had a positive reception when released in Japan but failed to wow audiences in most other countries. So let's get on with the review. Graphics and sound first. Now graphics is where many found the game disappointed. Many thought the graphics looked very dated for the advancements made recently and I would unfortunately have to agree. To say the game is a 2010 release the graphics do look dated and at no point will you find yourself stopping to look at the scenery and take a second to think about how amazing it looks, because quite simply it doesn't look too impressive. Sound is however very positive. The voice acting is very good and the dialogue between the characters Grimoire Weiss and Kaine are at times highly amusing. As a whole I found the sound in the game all positive. Ok now game play. Controls are simple to master but in the end is very much a case of bash the same button over and over to do a combo, at least until you meet Grimoire Weiss and gain the ability to use magic. Although you only need a few of the many spells you get to see you through the whole game. Which sort of makes having all the other magic spells pointless. Same with weapons. A few certain weapons will see you through the game, making finding them all pointless. However though if you are a new player to this genre the simple controls and the sometimes over powerful spells, mixed with the need for only certain weapons, makes this game a really good introduction to this genre. The story in Nier is vast and unless you follow it closely you will find yourself not understanding why you are killing the things you are killing or even what they are there for. If you do understand the story though it is actually done well. I must admit that from my point of view I found Nier's graphics and game play a welcoming blast from the past. This won't be a game everyone will like. But for those that aren't hooked up on the latest cutting edge graphics and take time to get to know the story and enjoy the little nuances of the game, there is a lot of fun and good times to be had in this game. Also after playing through once you get to go through it again from around half way through. But this time the ending will be different. Then you can go through a third and fourth time with different endings each time. All in all I found this game worth playing from its past feel and charm. So with that in mind, it's appeal to newer players and it's rather humorous dialogue in many places, I will score this game an 83. Definitely worth a rent if nothing else.

Tis game starts out really great,a sort of rpg hack n slash game, with bizzare enenies. After 4 or 5 hours it gets extemely long winded & gets to the stage where you just can't be bothered anymore. Some people may like it but i just couldn't get into it.

Interesting and unusual action/RPG game from SquareEnix that sits somewhere between Conan and Drakengard. Develops slowly but is rewarding and there is always plenty to do. The main story offered around 20-25 hours of play to collect all endings but could easily offer up a good few more hours if gathering all collectibles/upgrades and completing all side missions. Well worth a rent if you enjoy a bit of more action in your RPGs.

Good game, starts of a bit slow but once the story picks up it becomes very addictive. Very challenging in terms of getting 1000/1000 because of having weapon upgrading and doing all the different missions. Fans of RPG's will enjoy this
